My Favorite YouTube Ever!

I just have to share something. This really made me feel good. For the past almost 10 months now, I've basically put my life on hold to get John Edwards elected president. The reason, of course, is because I'm utterly fed up with the total crappiness of our country's direction in the past several years, and I see someone who I think would actually be a truly great leader for us, and it's so nice to have a little hope again.

Knowing how much time I spend trying to get the word out, especially online, several people who know me have asked me whether the campaign even knows what I'm doing. Well, this short little video made me feel really good.

At a recent book signing event, Elizabeth Edwards thanked the Edwards Evening News team, of which I am a part, and said that it's how she finds out what's going on in the world when she doesn't have a chance to talk to her husband. The video was shot by a friend of mine in North Carolina, NCDem Amy, and the woman giving her a hug in the video is a friend of mine also.

For those who don't know, the Edwards Evening News is a nightly diary on Daily Kos and other websites, written by a great team of bloggers, including myself, who take turns making sure that we get the nightly Edwards Evening News out there. The team has been doing this for nearly 200 consecutive nights now. I usually write the diary on Saturday nights, although sometimes I fill in on other nights. My name on Daily Kos is be inspired. You can always find the latest edition of Edwards Evening News, as well as past editions, right here:

And here is the latest one, by Amy, in which this video appears, along with another video of Elizabeth reading some lovely parts of her book, Saving Graces.

I just had to share! Thanks so much to Elizabeth, our future first lady and official White House blogger! And thanks to our wonderful EENR team!

Check out the Edwards Evening News on Daily Kos

I'm not sure if everyone who reads my blog knows about the Edwards Evening News on Daily Kos. Every night, there is a diary on Daily Kos covering what's new with John Edwards and his campaign. A team of blogger volunteers has been doing this for several months. It was the brainchild of blogger Tom P. I'm proud to say that I have recently joined the Edwards Evening News team. Some of you may have noticed the EENR logo on some of the posts in my sidebar.

The news is usually up between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Eastern time. I know that's a pretty big window, but we are volunteers.

Tonight's news is not up yet, but check out my most recent contribution and last night's news, written by okamichan13.

Aside from finding out what's going on with the Edwards campaign, it's just a fun place to hang out in the evening, so check it out!

Elizabeth Edwards answers my question on John's call for national service

It's NOT a draft. Let me say that right away.

A recent report that John Edwards was calling for mandatory national service confused some people, so when Elizabeth Edwards posted a diary tonight on Daily Kos, I asked her to clarify her husband's position.

Here's her response:

NOT a draft (12+ / 0-)

John is not in favor of a military draft. Never has been. When he was in the Senate and in the 2004 campaign, he proposed a national community service program for high school students, modeled on the program at the public school our older children attended. The habit of public service is one that we want to encourage. Whether that means that high school program or a national public service program for all of us -- even those out of high school -- we know we need to think about it, to get all Americans committed in a real and meaningful way in making America as strong and as compassionate as we can. He saw on the Gulf Coast what committed Americans can accomplish, and he dreams big about how much more we could do.

Here's a link to both the question and the answer.

Mrs. Edwards visited Daily Kos because she was announcing that her husband will attend the Yearly Kos blogger conference in August. She stayed around and answered a lot of questions, so be sure and read her diary and the comments.
