Changes of Directions

I haven't posted in a while. This is because another series of changes of directions is brewing in my life. I use the plural, because I tend to have so many interests and directions at once.

The latest is that I have published a collection of recipes by my Great Grandmother Emma Patterson on Smashwords. These came from six handwritten notebooks, which I've been transcribing and editing for some time now.

Also, I've been hard at work on arts and crafts and collecting lovely vintage things. My shop on Etsy.

The experience of trying to save the world, or even a very small, fragile, and beautiful part of it, has been so excruciating and frankly disastrous for the past few years that, while I continue to care about various causes, I will now be adjusting the balance of my life more toward enlightened self-interest. I think this is a good thing, and it's one I'm excited about!

Thought Lightning

Flash of light from cloud to earth.
Thought passed from mind to mind.

Connection
Unseen except by eyes that look
in the moment of transfer.

A secret thing
known only by the knowers,
who smile in quiet joy,
at being seen beneath the surface,
for a moment.

A treasure as rare as a friend who gets me,
who sees what is hidden there.
Such secrets must be
protected always.
A promise made.

Yes, I wrote this article, and yes, our own Progressive Blue is in there, and yes, I'm shamelessly self-promoting.

View my work on Associated Content

In an incremental step toward my goal of making a living by publishing my writing, I've joined Associated Content, which pays, albeit minimally, for content. In the future, some of my content will be posted there first, some will be posted there exclusively. That's assuming it works out for me to publish there.

You can keep up with what I'm posting to Associated Content here.

You may notice that I am now publishing under the nom de plume of "Laura Serena." I needed a more professional byline.

Thanks for reading what I write, whether you read it here or on another site.
